The Gravestones

The Whittington Garden of Remembrance was once the main burial ground of the village and contains a number of surviving gravestones and memorials. These stones provide visible links to people who were buried here and offer an important connection to the history of the space and village.

Over time, changes in how the space was used meant that gravestones were moved from their original positions. The graves themselves were not moved, just the headstone markers, and they now lie to the west and north edges of the garden.
